Since Friday 25th September 2015, our app "Maltese Traffic" has been made free. This has been possible through the help of Transport Malta who is now financing the app. This will lead to greater and more precise news because of a number of points. Here are a few:
The app uses information gathered by the very people who are using the app. The app gives access to report traffic in a few simple steps. Users can choose from three different traffic types (Moderate, Heavy, and Standstill), they can choose to upload a snapshot of the traffic, an optional brief description can be filled out, and the app will automatically take the user's current location. Once the user submits the traffic, a pin will be available for everyone to view on the map of Malta. Therefore, since the app is now free, more users will be using the app and more pins will be uploaded, making it more rich with information.
Since we will now be working with Transport Malta, we can get more accurate information on any road closures that will affect the Maltese roads. These closures can include road works, feasts, and more.
With the help of Transport Malta, Vioside can bring new updates and features to the app that will help Maltese drivers prevent traffic. Some of these upcoming features will include proximity alerts, were the app notifies you of any oncoming traffic, more cameras around Malta that can be found on our website.
