Life Cycle Review - Automatic Time Tracking

You've had a busy week going from one place to the next, sometimes you're at work, other times you're at home or at the gym. Then Sunday comes along and you try to recap your week, but your memory is a bit blurry and you're not quite sure where your time went. This is where Life Cycle comes in handy. Life Cycle is an automatic time tracking app that uses your phone's location services and gyroscope to identify what you are doing, where, and how long. Let's dig in further, shall we?

How does it work?

From your end, all you have to do is download the app from the AppStore (currently only available on iOS), open it up, and go through the first screens. Life Cycle will start to collect data in the background. This can take up to 2 days for the app to gather enough data about what you are doing. Once ready, Life Cycle will send you a push notification to let you know that you can review your data

What type of data does the app gather?

Life Cycle will show you what you are doing and the duration of that activity. The app achieves this by using the phone's motion sensors and location services to identify what you are doing during the day. This information is then presented in a neat little pie chart, which gives a quick indication of where your time is being spent. You can then tap on any segment to display more information which is presented in a graph, outlining the number of hours for each day. You can also filter your data either by day, week, month, or year. The app also offers a yearly subscription to unlock more information, such as trends, and it would also keep your data backed up in the cloud.

Conclusion

This is probably one of the easiest apps to use, but the information it provides can be eye-opening, and sometimes shocking. You will start to observe that (for most people) we spend most of our life sleeping, driving, and at work. Perhaps this app can inspire you to shift some priorities around, and spend more time on the things that are most important to you.
